Portable Hot Tubs

Purchasing a spa can be a confusing task.

There are countless hot tub manufactures offering more options than most people even know exist.  To a consumer new to the spa industry, it can all seem overwhelming and confusing. To help make your decision easier, we’ve put together a brief outline designed to take some of the guesswork out of buying your hot tub.

There are two main spa classifications. The first consists of "In Ground" spas.  These spas are built from a variety of materials including:

• gunite
• fiberglass
• acrylic
• stainless steel
• and tile.

Much as the name infers, in ground spas are set into the ground, with the top of the spa being at ground level. This type of spa can be a very attractive addition to a backyard and can be customized to become part of your backyard landscape.  In ground spas also have the added benefit of being extremely quite as all of the mechanical equipment needed to run the hot tub can be moved away from the bathing area thus providing a relaxing and quite atmosphere. The downside of in ground spa however, is that they are expensive and time consuming to install.  However, if you have the time and money available to have an in ground model installed, you will likely be pleased with the results.

The second group is a broad and potentially confusing category called "Portable Hot Tubs". Portable hot tubs range anywhere from inflatable vinyl models that can be packed up and put away when not in use, to large 10 person models that are made of acrylic and wood that seem anything but portable. Portable hot tubs offer the advantage of being self contained, meaning everything needed to operate the spa is contained within the spa unit itself.  Another advantage is that portable hot tubs are significantly less expensive than equally sized in ground models and are relatively quick to install.  These benefits have made them extremely popular among consumers.
